Board Orientation Clinic
This is an interactive, “get-it-done” workshop, designed to help Board Development Committee Chairs, Executive Directors, and anyone responsible for Board orientation to optimize their orientation process and “scrapbook” a Board Orientation Manual. BoardStar will provide numerous policy and job description templates, and a comprehensive list of what should be included. Participants should bring their corporate documents, and any other resources they would like to include in their new orientation manual.
Building an effective Board begins with each individual Director possessing the tools needed to govern: knowledge of Board and staff roles and responsibilities, as well as the organization’s policies, history, culture, programs and finances. A thoughtful orientation process, with an up-to-date and complete orientation manual, is essential for training and empowering a strong Board of Directors.
Participants should bring:
- Current orientation materials
- Copies of all critical corporate documents
Instructor:
B. Denise Patton, President, BDP & Associates, has more than 20 years experience in leadership development within the nonprofit sector. Her background is in Business Management, Community Development and Professional Communications. She is a certified Diagnostic Clinic Consultant serving southeastern Wisconsin.
Fee:
$50 includes training, comprehensive reference manual, strong coffee and a light meal / $45 for BoardStar members
