BoardGPS

Feeling a little lost in the nonprofit world?

Not sure what path to take to get back on the map?

Need help steering your Board back on track?

Thankfully, navigating the road of a nonprofit Board doesn't have to be so bumpy.

The BoardGPS (Governance Practices Survey) is a professionally guided assessment service that is designed to:

  • Identify a Board's strengths
  • Address challenges
  • Set priorities
  • Map out a strategy for the future

BoardGPS combines web-based self-analysis from an organization's Board Directors with one-on-one direction from an experienced BoardStar consultant.

The BoardGPS Process

1. Assessment

BoardGPS uses a comprehensive online survey system to ask nonprofit Board Directors a series of questions to assess the organization’s current situation. The survey addresses a variety of subjects, including leadership, budgeting, and policies.

2. Consultant Guidance

After each Board Director completes an individual survey, the BoardStar consultant analyzes the results, presents its comprehensive findings, and then guides the Board through the development of action plans to strengthen their governance practices.

Each consultant brings insights and knowledge developed through training and personal experience in nonprofit governance.

3. Measureable Impact

Through the completion of the BoardGPS, nonprofit organizations see measurable results at a variety of levels:

  • Mission & programs

  • Planning

  • Leadership

  • Board development

  • Board engagement

  • Resources

  • Financial oversight

  • Board/staff relations

  • Committees

  • Important issues

  • Individual demographics

  • Board experience
